How to Use Your Chromecast Without Wi-Fi?

The Chromecast was an outstanding invention by Google. This product allows you to stream content from iOS, Android, Mac and Windows computer and any other source connected to the Wi-Fi network. You can send the content directly to the TV screen from the above-mentioned sources with the help of Chromecast media player.

This product is pretty similar to other media players like Amazon Fire TV and Roku but the only difference being, you can play content even without Wi-Fi connection on Chromecast.
So, you can say that this device can be configured where there is Wi-Fi blackspot or where you don’t want to use the public Wi-Fi network like in hotels or stations.

How to use Chromecast without Wi-Fi?

First of all, check the version of OS installed in Chromecast. It should be up to date. The new version of Chromecast OS supports the playback without Wi-Fi network.

In the new software version, you will find a Guest mode launched recently in it. This enables all the guests to use Chromecast without connecting to the internet. If you have installed the Google Chromecast app on your mobile, then you will find a special beacon on the top of the video section from where you can beam the content directly to the TV screen.

When you click on the guest mode, a device will generate a random code that is to be entered in the given field by the guest. The device will then transfer this code to the nearby device through audio tones. If the audio tone fails for a minute, then you can add the four digit number manually that is displayed on the TV screen

Mirroring

Another way to beam the content to the TV screen without having an internet connection is ‘Mirroring’. Just mirror your mobile screen to the Chromecast stick or player. You will find no requirement of Wi-Fi connection. If you are an iOS user, then sorry as of now as this option is not available in it.

To mirror an android device, just open the app from the smartphone and click on the Burger menu given on the left-hand side of the screen. You will find cast option, click to select the Chromecast device.

The working of screen mirroring is totally different from that of the wireless display. The display may sometimes get slaggy or choppy on wireless screen. For screen mirroring function, your device must run Android version 4.4.2.

Using Chromecast without Wi-Fi by connecting to the Ethernet cable
If you have connected the Chromecast to the TV and for some reason, the Wi-Fi is not working, then you can try connecting the device to the internet via Ethernet cable. Connect the cable directly to the Ethernet port of the device and to the router.

For your information, we want to tell you that Ethernet or wired connection is much faster than the wireless network. The only thing you have to do is just connect the USB cable available in the Chromecast box to the Ethernet adapter. After this switch on the router and modem and see if the connection is established on the Chromecast or not. When you connect the device to the Ethernet adapter, then must connect the adapter to the power socket as well.
